How to Judge if a Cat has Intestinal Obstruction
1. Abdominal palpation: Cats usually suffer from intestinal obstruction due to indigestible food or foreign objects swallowed, such as bones, seeds, plastics, ropes, hairballs, etc. In this case, you can gently touch the cat's belly. If the cat shows discomfort, there is a high probability of intestinal obstruction.
2. Observing behavior changes: When a cat has an intestinal obstruction, it may exhibit symptoms such as frequent vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, and poor spirit. In severe cases, it can even lead to intestinal necrosis, requiring surgical removal of the necrotic intestine. Therefore, it is recommended to take the cat to a pet hospital for professional treatment immediately when the owner discovers such symptoms, to avoid delaying the diagnosis.
3. Using imaging techniques such as B-ultrasound and DR: Clinically, the diagnosis of intestinal obstruction in cats usually relies on imaging techniques such as B-ultrasound and DR. If the cat's owner cannot determine whether the cat has an intestinal obstruction, it is recommended to take the cat to a pet hospital for imaging examinations, which is the most reliable method and can reveal the cat's specific condition.
If you find any abnormal behavior changes in your cat, please consult a veterinarian in time to avoid accidents.
