How to Judge if a Cat is Sick
You can judge if a cat is sick by observing its mental state, dietary habits, bowel movements, and body temperature. Generally, sick cats exhibit symptoms such as depression, loss of appetite, diarrhea, or incomplete and odorous feces, which require timely inspection of the cause of the disease and corresponding treatment. In daily life, it is necessary to keep the cat warm, regularly deworm and vaccinate, and feed it nutritious food to improve its resistance.
Firstly, you can judge if a cat is sick by its mental state. Generally, when a cat is sick, it will appear depressed, manifesting as sleepiness, nervousness, refusing to be touched by the owner, and slow movement. Many diseases can cause a cat to become depressed, such as changes in environment, digestive system diseases, and infectious diseases. You need to carefully observe if the cat has other uncomfortable symptoms. If accompanied by decreased appetite and increased body temperature, it is necessary to take the cat to the vet for a check-up.
Secondly, you can judge if a cat is sick by its dietary habits. When a cat is sick, it may lose its appetite or stop eating. Usually, the cause of decreased appetite or refusal to eat may be due to infectious diseases or oral diseases. Generally, when a cat has an infectious disease, it will also exhibit increased body temperature, vomiting, and diarrhea. When a cat has oral diseases, it will show symptoms such as dry mouth, refusal to eat, and bad breath. In this case, it is necessary to take the cat to the pet hospital for a check-up to avoid dehydration due to lack of eating and drinking.
Furthermore, you can also observe if a cat is sick by its bowel movements. Healthy cat feces should be dark brown, pellet-like or striped, neither too dry nor too soft. When a cat has difficulty defecating, reduced bowel movements, or incomplete feces, it may also be sick.
Lastly, you can judge if a cat is sick by its body temperature. A cat's normal body temperature is 38.5-39.5°C. If the cat's temperature is higher than normal in a familiar environment without intense exercise, it indicates a fever, and timely treatment is necessary. Many cat diseases will have some early symptoms. Cat owners should observe their cats more during daily care. If any uncomfortable symptoms appear, it is recommended to consult a pet doctor in a timely manner to avoid delaying the cat's treatment.
