How to Tell if a Cat Has Been Vaccinated

There are two main ways to determine if a cat has been vaccinated. The first is to ask the cat's owner for the vaccination certificate or to visit the pet hospital where the cat was vaccinated together to check the vaccination record. The second way is to bring the cat to a pet hospital for an antibody test to detect the antibody levels in its body. If the antibody levels are within the acceptable range in the antibody test, it proves that the cat has been vaccinated.

  1. Check the vaccination certificate or record

If the cat was purchased from a cattery or adopted, you can ask the previous owner to provide the vaccination certificate from when the cat was vaccinated. If there is no vaccination certificate, you can visit the pet hospital where the vaccination was done together with the previous owner to inquire about the vaccination record.

  1. Conduct an antibody test

If conditions permit, the owner can also bring the cat to a pet hospital for an antibody test. If the antibody test results show a high level, it can confirm that the cat has been injected with the immune vaccine. After that, only annual boosters for the immune vaccine and rabies vaccine are needed. If the antibody levels are insufficient, the owner needs to consider whether to re-vaccinate or strengthen the immunity. If the cat's antibody levels are too low, it may increase the chance of contracting diseases.
