How to Train a Cat to Be Obedient

Establishing a Good Relationship

Training a cat to be obedient requires building a good relationship first, followed by reward-based and repetitive training.

  1. Spend more time with your cat, play with it when you have time, and occasionally stroke and comfort it to make it familiar with you and like you.
  2. Be patient during training, give rewards when the cat does something right, and teach it when it does something wrong.
  3. Gradually proceed with the training and practice repeatedly.

Why Cats Are Not Obedient

  1. Cats generally have strong personalities and are not accustomed to living with humans. Therefore, cats should start training from a young age to make them obedient and well-behaved.
  2. Choose a suitable method when your cat is not obedient. Never hit it, as it may think you don't like it and react negatively, becoming even more unruly.
  3. Unrestrained pampering can make cats behave impudently, so sometimes shouting is necessary to make the cat understand that it has done something wrong and angered the owner. Therefore, balance is crucial during the training process.

Why Cats Are Difficult to Tame

  1. Cats have low submission consciousness and strong self-awareness, which makes them difficult to tame compared to dogs.
  2. It is related to the living environment. If cats live in a carefree and unrestrained environment from a young age, they may become unruly.
  3. Inadequate training from the owner, who may be too lenient or have not trained or educated the cat, resulting in the cat not being obedient.

How to Train a Cat to Use the Toilet

You can use the following methods to train your cat to use the toilet:

  1. Since cats have a natural habit of burying their waste, when you notice your cat engaging in elimination behavior, pick it up and put it in the cat litter box, allowing it to eliminate on its own. After a few times, it will remember.
  2. If your cat eliminates randomly, place its waste in the litter box so the cat can smell it and gradually develop the habit of using the litter box.
