How to Treat Canine Nephritis
Canine nephritis is generally divided into acute nephritis and chronic nephritis clinically. The treatment methods require intravenous fluid therapy, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory drugs, diuretics and dehydrating agents to reduce swelling, inhibit immune reactions, and prevent the occurrence of uremia. At the same time, limit the salt intake in your dog's food and feed them nutritious and easy-to-digest food. If your dog has edema or oliguria due to nephritis, you can treat it with intravenous injection of diuretics or mannitol等dehydrating agents.
- Antibiotic and Anti-inflammatory
Inject penicillin and ampicillin intramuscularly. Note that kanamycin, gentamicin, and sulfa drugs are contraindicated because they can cause renal damage.
- Diuretic and Dehydrating Agent
Inject furosemide intramuscularly according to the severity of the disease.
- Inhibition of Immune Reaction
Inject dexamethasone intramuscularly, and prednisone orally twice a day.
- Symptomatic Treatment
Symptomatic treatment mainly includes detoxification, strengthening the heart, and supplementing nutrition. Strengthen the feeding management of your dog, pay attention to warmth, and avoid vigorous exercise.
