How to Treat Cat's Black Chin
Cat's black chin is actually folliculitis, mainly caused by long-term consumption of food with high oil content or use of plastic food bowls. It is generally treated with antibiotics such as oxygen氟沙星. In addition to medication, it is recommended to switch to metal or ceramic cat bowls and reduce the intake of oil and salt in the cat's daily diet.
When treating your cat's black chin, start by wetting a cotton swab with physiological saline and gently wiping the chin area to remove any foreign objects on the surface. Then apply a medication containing ingredients like oxygen氟沙星. If the symptoms are severe, you can trim the excess hair and use a spray containing lysozyme enzyme on the affected area, applying it 2-4 times a day. If there are ulcers in the follicles, you can also use amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium for 5-7 days of antibiotic treatment, but it is best to use it under a doctor's guidance.
In daily feeding, it is recommended to switch to cat food with less oil and choose cat bowls made of ceramic or metal materials. After the cat eats, you can use a wet paper towel to wipe its chin to keep the area clean.
Finally, when a cat's hormone secretion is high, it may also develop a black chin, especially in male cats. It is advised to have your cat undergo a spay or neuter surgery after six months of age.
