When can a Husky breed?
The breeding period for dogs can be divided into the breeding period for female dogs and the breeding period for male dogs. When a female dog is in heat, vaginal discharge with a reddish color will flow out. The first and second days after the bleeding stops are the most suitable times for breeding, and then you can choose a suitable male dog for mating. The breeding period for male dogs is when they are in heat, and it is best to breed them after they are one year old.
How to breed
The best breeding method for dogs is natural breeding. This is the best breeding method applicable to male and female dogs with similar sizes and breeding experience, and also applicable when the female dog's estrus is relatively obvious and can withstand the male dog's pressure on her body. If natural breeding is not possible, assisted breeding and artificial insemination will be needed to achieve the purpose of breeding.
Signs of successful breeding
Usually, after a successful breeding, a dog's appetite will increase relatively compared to before, and its temperament will become milder. However, these changes are not easily visible to the naked eye in the early stage. The main changes are the alteration of hormone levels within the body and the development of the ovaries. The normal physiological condition of the ovaries can be detected through serum progesterone concentration and ultrasound examination, which can be done at a pet hospital.
What to watch out for after breeding
After breeding, the following precautions should be taken: avoid intense exercise, fighting, long-distance transportation, etc., to reduce any possibilities of stress; pay attention to supplementing trace elements and vitamins to ensure the normal development of the fetus; avoid vaccination and drugs forbidden for pregnant animals, such as: florfenicol, dexamethasone, etc.
