Outward protrusion and redness of kitten's anus
The outward protrusion and redness of a kitten's anus may be caused by constipation or parasite infection, or by severe diarrhea resulting in anal gland inflammation and prolapse. Regardless of the cause, it is important to carefully clean and disinfect the kitten's anus, pay attention to hygiene to prevent infection, and take the kitten to a pet hospital as soon as possible for treatment. Based on the cause, the problem can be treated fundamentally to avoid delaying the best treatment time.
- Constipation
When a kitten is constipated, continuous straining to defecate can cause the anus to protrude and become red and swollen. At this time, the owner can check the cat's stool to see if it is relatively dry. If the stool is indeed dry, the owner can feed the kitten some probiotics and foods with a higher water content to improve the constipation. Once the constipation is improved, the swelling of the anus will subside. However, if the protrusion of the kitten's anus is severe enough to reveal the intestines, it is necessary to seek medical treatment promptly.
- Parasite infection
If the owner does not give the kitten regular deworming treatments, the kitten may become infected with internal parasites such as coccidia and trichomonads, which can cause diarrhea. If the diarrhea persists, it can lead to the outward protrusion and redness of the anus. The owner can check the cat's feces to see if there are white worm bodies. If so, it indicates that there are many parasites in the cat's body. In this case, it is necessary to take the cat to the pet hospital for a fecal examination and then proceed with deworming treatment.
- Anal gland issues
When a kitten experiences severe diarrhea, it is prone to developing anal gland inflammation and prolapse, which can cause the anus to protrude and become red and swollen. If the condition is not severe, the owner can first clean the prolapsed area with saline solution, and then apply pet-specific antibiotics to maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the prolapsed area. However, if the prolapse is severe, it is necessary to take the kitten to the pet hospital for surgical treatment as soon as possible.
