Kitten shaking while lying down
Why does a kitten shake while lying down?
The reason for a kitten shaking while lying down may be due to a unfamiliar environment, causing the kitten to feel scared. Cats are particularly sensitive and prone to stress reactions. If the kitten is naturally timid, try to avoid frequently changing its environment, as this can easily lead to stress reactions and subsequent development of other diseases. Additionally, shaking may also be caused by feeling cold. Check the kitten's temperature to see if it's normal, and then decide whether to take it to the hospital for treatment.
Shaking limbs while lying down
Symptoms like this may be caused by the following reasons:
- Due to a long period without eating or gastrointestinal disease symptoms such as vomiting, the kitten may experience hypoglycemic seizures, causing the above symptoms.
- Due to vascular development abnormalities, such as portal venous short circuit, causing abnormal ammonia metabolism and leading to hepatic encephalopathy.
- The presence of brain disease causing nerve compression and abnormal regulation of limb movement.
Symptoms of intestinal blockage in cats
Signs of intestinal blockage in cats may include:
- Loss of appetite or even refusal to eat, as intestinal blockage causes inability to defecate, accumulating waste in the intestine, making the cat unwilling to eat more, otherwise it will lead to more severe blockage.
- Vomiting, which occurs when the intestinal blockage causes nausea, especially during eating. The cat may vomit as soon as it eats.
- Difficulty defecating or even absence of defecation. Touching the intestine, one can feel hard objects such as fecal balls.

- Abdominal palpation and auscultation, mainly used to check for abdominal tumors and abnormal intestinal sounds.
- Imaging examinations such as abdominal X-rays, CT scans, and ultrasound.
- Hematological examinations, mainly used to check for abnormalities in vitamin B12 and pancreatic specific enzymes.
