Symptoms of skin diseases in puppies
There are mainly four types of skin diseases commonly encountered in puppies: tick infestation, mite infestation, fungal infection, and mixed infection. The symptoms and treatments of each type of skin disease are different. It is best for owners to take their dogs to a pet hospital for a skin disease examination to determine if the infection is caused by fungi or bacteria. During treatment, it is recommended to shave the hair around the affected area on the dog's body, making it easier to apply medication.
Symptoms of Puppy Skin Diseases
Skin diseases can be divided into bacterial, fungal, and parasitic types. Bacterial symptoms: Obvious wounds on the skin, redness of the affected area, and accompanied by some bright or milky white liquid. Fungal symptoms: Generally characterized by elliptical areas of hair loss, skin redness, and scales. Parasitic symptoms: Flea bites result in multiple small red spots, mite infestation causes the skin to secrete large amounts of oil, usually occurring around the mouth and feet, and can even cause widespread infection in severe cases.
Can Dog Skin Diseases Be Contagious?
Skin diseases are generally not contagious unless the immune system is compromised. These diseases mainly include fungal, bacterial, and parasitic types. Bacterial infections are caused by wound infections on the skin; fungal infections are caused by a decrease in resistance in damp environments; and parasitic infections are caused by the bite of parasites. In daily care, as long as regular deworming is performed and the living environment is kept clean, dogs generally do not develop skin diseases.
Can Puppy Skin Diseases Heal Themselves?
Puppies with skin diseases will not recover spontaneously. Therefore, it is necessary to identify the cause of the skin disease in dogs first, and then use medication to treat them. If the skin disease is caused by parasite infection, external deworming drugs can be used to expel the parasites, followed by topical or oral anti-inflammatory drug treatment. If the skin disease is caused by fungal or bacterial infection, anti-fungal and antibacterial drugs can be used for treatment. During treatment, the environment where the puppies live should be disinfected and sterilized to ensure that they do not become re-infected.
