The fastest way to treat dog eczema
The fastest way to treat dog eczema is to adopt a symptomatic approach, usually involving itch relief, inflammation suppression, and anti-allergy measures. The treatment plan usually includes subcutaneous injection of dexamethasone once a day for three consecutive days, which helps alleviate itching and inflammation. In addition, injections of Strong安宁 are given once a day to prevent secondary infections in other areas of the skin. Meanwhile, apply an anti-inflammatory and mite-killing cream to the infected area twice a day. Generally, eczema treatment takes about a week to show significant improvement.
Eczema is generally a skin disease caused by bacterial infection, which can be divided into several stages: early papule stage, vesicle stage, pustule stage, and ulceration stage. The treatment varies at different stages.
- Early papule stage
When a dog's eczema is in the early papule stage, it is relatively mild. Treatment can involve disinfecting the affected area with iodine, applying an antibiotic ointment, keeping the skin dry, and exposing the dog to more sunlight. Additionally, the dog's living environment should be kept dry, and mattress covers should be changed frequently.
- Vesicle stage
If the eczema progresses to the vesicle stage, trim the hair around the vesicles, and apply cold compresses with physiological saline and boric acid solution. For broken vesicles, wipe with alum solution and administer dexamethasone orally and chlorpromazine injections.
- Pustule stage
In the pustule stage, the dog will need to take prednisone acetate tablets, and apply Saifuang cream to the affected area with a cotton swab. Inject antipyrine hydrochloride injection.
- Ulceration stage
In the ulceration stage, the affected area will ulcerate, and the dog may show signs of lethargy. Administer dexamethasone sodium phosphate injection.
Note: During treatment, ensure the dog wears an Elizabethan collar to prevent scratching and licking, reducing the risk of further infection. After treatment, give the dog oral supplements such as fish oil to help restore the skin.
