Transparent Long Mucus Flowing from Dog's Mouth
A dog with a transparent long mucus flowing from its mouth may be due to reasons such as heat dissipation, improper diet, or oral diseases.
- Heat Dissipation
Since dogs don't have sweat glands, they tend to open their mouths and stick out their tongues to cool down when the surrounding environment is too hot or after intense physical activity. This is a normal phenomenon. As long as the dog doesn't show any other abnormalities, there's no need to worry too much. Just bring the dog to a shady and well-ventilated place to rest and give it some water to help cool down.
- Improper Diet
If a dog accidentally eats spicy foods, disinfectants, or other irritating substances, it will stimulate the oral cavity and produce saliva. It may also accompany symptoms like vomiting and diarrhea. Dog owners should first recall if they have given the dog any irritating foods and observe the dog's condition. If the dog shows no abnormalities, there's no need to worry too much. You can feed the dog some probiotics and plenty of water to alleviate the irritation. If the dog shows symptoms like abdominal pain or diarrhea, it's necessary to go to the pet hospital for treatment.
- Oral Diseases
If a dog has a transparent long mucus flowing from its mouth along with symptoms like poor spirit, difficulty eating, orange-red ulcers inside the mouth, bad breath, or suddenly producing a lot of saliva, it's likely to have oral diseases such as stomatitis, periodontitis, or mouth ulcers. In this case, it's necessary to consult a pet doctor and use antibiotics for treatment.
