Treatment Methods for Feline Incontinence

Treating feline incontinence requires first identifying the type of incontinence in cats, and then developing a targeted treatment plan. If caused by nerve damage, owners can purchase nerve repair drugs from pet hospitals to treat their cats. If caused by urinary tract diseases, such as urinary tract inflammation and urethral calculi, it is recommended to take the cat to a pet hospital for examination and treatment. If caused by fright, owners need to comfort the cat's emotions and take the cat away from unfamiliar environments in a timely manner.

Available treatment methods include the following:

  1. Use drugs according to the cat's condition to relax the bladder.

  2. Surgical repair treatment, supporting the bladder and urethral tissue or improving urine flow.

  3. Neural electrical stimulation of the bladder nerve to make the cat's nerves recover sensitivity.

  4. Exercise therapy, which can alleviate or correct the symptoms of feline incontinence by strengthening the pelvic floor muscle tension.

  5. Traditional Chinese medicine acupuncture therapy, stimulating the cat's nerves by needling points such as Zhongji, Guanyuan, Zusanli, and Sanyinjiao, increasing the tension of the pelvic floor muscles, thus helping the cat recover bladder function and improving incontinence.

Note: When a cat has incontinence, the owner must not randomly give the cat medication to avoid serious consequences due to medication errors. It is recommended to take the cat to a pet hospital first for inspection and determine the specific cause of the disease before targeted drug treatment.
