Constant meowing from a new kitten at home

There are two main reasons why a kitten meows constantly upon arriving at its new home. The first reason is that it's hungry. The owner can prepare some of the kitten's usual cat food and water and take it to the designated eating area. The second reason is that the kitten is in a new environment and is not adapted or feels unsafe. The owner should spend more time with the kitten and help it familiarize itself with the home environment.

Why is the kitten meowing constantly?

There are several situations in which a kitten meows constantly. The first is when a kitten leaves its mother cat and searches for her. The second is when the kitten is hungry. The third is when the kitten is very attached to humans and meows when left alone. The fourth is during the kitten's heat period. The fifth is when a sick kitten meows, and it's advised to take it to the vet for inspection.

Symptoms of cat stress response

Alert phase: The body undergoes a series of neurophysiological changes, emergency mobilization of internal resources, and is in a state of readiness. This phase can be divided into the shock phase and the anti-shock phase. In the shock phase, symptoms such as decreased blood pressure, increased vascular permeability, decreased blood concentration, and decreased body temperature may occur. The manifestations of the anti-shock phase are opposite to those of the shock phase.

Resistance phase: At this time, neurophysiological changes continue to occur, and the body uses its resources to deal with various emergencies. Exhaustion phase: The body's hormones and essential trace elements are depleted, some cells and tissues are destroyed, and post-traumatic stress disorder occurs. This phase occurs only when the stress factors are severe or persistent. Defense measures are no longer effective, and if the condition continues to worsen, it will lead to death.

What to do if a kitten meows constantly upon arriving at home

When a cat arrives in a new environment, it may feel nervous, scared, and meow constantly. The owner should provide the best comfort to help it gradually adapt and calm down. This is a normal physiological response. Cats are highly sensitive, and changing environments are a significant stimulus for them. Therefore, spend more time with it in the first week, and pay attention to its diet and lifestyle.
