What to do if your cat keeps meowing in a new environment
Possible causes:
Fear: When a cat arrives in a new environment, it may feel nervous and scared, missing its mother and companions. This can lead to constant meowing. This is a normal reaction, so don't worry too much. You can place familiar items around the cat to reduce its fear. Also, check if there is enough food or water. If it's empty, the cat might be thirsty or hungry, which could be why it's meowing constantly.
Hunger: After arriving in a new environment, the cat may be too scared to look for food in areas with people. If the cat meows continuously at night, it might be hungry or thirsty. Make sure to have enough food and water ready for the cat, and place it in an area where the cat often hangs out.
Illness: If the cat keeps meowing non-stop and even becomes hoarse, it's time to consider whether the cat is sick. Observe for any other abnormal symptoms, such as depression, loss of appetite, shaking, fever, etc. If you find any异常, take the cat to the vet promptly for treatment.
How to deal with it:
Reassure the cat: Gently stroke the cat's head and back to comfort it. Prepare food and water for the cat to eat freely. You can also use the cat's favorite snacks and toys, such as cat sticks, cat cans, and cat-teasing sticks, to play with it and divert its attention.
Provide food and water: Ensure there is enough food and water available for the cat. Place it in areas where the cat frequently ventures.
Check for illness: If the cat's meowing doesn't stop, observe for any other abnormal symptoms. If you suspect illness, take the cat to the pet hospital for a check-up and treatment.
