Strange Sounds Emitted by Cats
Cats emit strange sounds for various reasons, such as fear, heat, nasal congestion, and epilepsy. If the strange sounds are caused by fear and heat, it is a normal phenomenon and there is generally no need for excessive worry. If the cat emits abnormal strange sounds along with other symptoms, such as rapid breathing and convulsions, it is recommended that the owner take the cat to a regular pet hospital for a comprehensive examination to identify the cause and receive treatment under the guidance of the doctor, which is beneficial to controlling the condition.
- Fear
If a cat is afraid of its surroundings, it may express its situation through its voice. Owners need to comfort the cat's emotions promptly, which can alleviate its fear. As the cat becomes more familiar with its environment, the strange sounds will gradually disappear, and there is generally no need for targeted treatment.
- Heat
During the heat period, a cat's hormone secretion may become abnormal, causing it to emit loud calls to attract the opposite sex. This is a normal phenomenon. Once the heat period passes, the strange sounds will gradually disappear, and there is usually no need for special treatment.
- Nasal Congestion
If a cat's nose is blocked, it may be caused by rhinitis or upper respiratory infections, which can affect normal breathing and cause symptoms such as runny nose, sneezing, and rapid breathing. It may also be caused by foreign objects blocking the nose, causing the cat to emit loud calls to express its suffering. Owners need to observe their cat's condition at any time and take the cat to the hospital for treatment.
- Epilepsy
This is a chronic brain disease. During epileptic seizures, the body may experience convulsions and loud calls. Treatment under a doctor's guidance, including taking anti-epileptic and neurotrophic medications, can help control seizures.
