Solutions for Welsh Corgi Hair Loss
1. Regularly Brush Hair
Welsh Corgis experience normal seasonal shedding, which is a physiological phenomenon. To deal with this, owners just need to brush their dogs' hair more frequently to remove excess shed hair and prevent the dog from swallowing it. Additionally, owners should clean their homes more often to avoid ingestion of hair, which could lead to gastrointestinal blockage. Also, feeding Welsh Corgis hair-friendly supplements or applying skin moisturizing drops may improve shedding to some extent.
2. Pay Attention to Diet
If the hair loss is caused by long-term consumption of a single type of dog food or high-salt food, resulting in malnutrition, it is recommended to feed the dog high-quality complete dog food, avoid feeding human food, and give fewer treats. Instead, supplement unsaturated fatty acids, trace elements, and expose the dog to more sunlight and outdoor activities, which promote healthy hair growth.
3. Regular Deworming
If the hair loss is caused by a long-term lack of deworming and infection with parasites, it's time to deworm the dog promptly. It's also a good idea to regularly deworm pets, with suggestions to conduct internal deworming every three months and external deworming every month.
4. Control Shower Frequency
Frequent bathing or using inappropriate shampoos can also lead to hair loss in Welsh Corgis. Therefore, owners should pay attention to the frequency of dog bathing. Generally, dogs should be bathed once every 2-3 weeks in summer and once every 3 weeks or one month in winter. Always use pet-specific shampoos, and dry the dog's hair promptly after bathing to avoid catching a cold.
5. Consult a Veterinarian and Treat with Medicine
For hair loss caused by skin diseases, it's recommended to send the dog to a pet hospital for a skin biopsy to determine the cause of the skin disease, and then give symptomatic treatment. Once the skin disease is under control, the hair loss symptoms will improve.
