What happens if a cat doesn't get spayed or neutered?
- Increased chance of reproductive diseases
Not getting spayed or neutered can increase the likelihood of cats developing reproductive diseases, such as uterine, testicular, and ovarian diseases.
- Disturbing owner's rest
During their heat cycle, unneutered cats will cry continuously day and night, disturbing their owner's sleep. Unspayed female cats will also have more frequent heat cycles, leading to mood swings and increased chances of spraying.
- Increased chances of getting lost outside
Cats in heat may want to venture outside to find a mate, increasing the chances of them getting lost or injured. If the cat's owners don't keep their windows and doors closed, there's also a risk of the cat falling from a high place.
- Aggressive behavior
Long-term lack of mating behavior can lead to aggressive behavior in cats, causing them to be less affectionate and more prone to attacking people.
Therefore, if owners don't plan to breed their cats, it's recommended to spay or neuter them before their first heat cycle to reduce the risk of diseases and prolong their lives.
