What to do if your dog gets bitten by a mosquito

Observe the severity of the bite

If your dog gets bitten by a mosquito, observe the severity of the bite. If the bite site is just itchy without swelling, you can apply soap water to the affected area to neutralize the acidic substances released by the mosquito, thus relieving pain and itchiness. If the bite site is severely swollen, it is recommended to go to the pet hospital in time to purchase a specialized mosquito bite treatment cream or ointment to alleviate itching and swelling.

  1. Apply soap water

If the dog's bite site is just itchy without swelling, you can immediately apply soap water to the affected area for about 5 minutes, then use a functional dog shampoo to bath your dog, strengthening their nutrition and promoting skin recovery.

  1. Use a specialized dog mosquito bite treatment cream

If the bite site is severely swollen, after disinfecting the area, apply a dog-specific itch and swelling cream or spray. The affected area should recover within 1-2 days.

  1. Take preventative measures against mosquitoes

Mosquito bites can cause local redness, itching, and even potentially transmit certain diseases. It is advised to take preventative measures against mosquitoes, such as wearing mosquito repellent collars, using mosquito repellent essential oils, and installing mosquito nets in your dog's kennel. Be sure to use dog-specific essential oils to avoid harming your dog.

Note: If your dog shows signs of scratching, stop them from scratching the bitten area to avoid skin injuries, inflammation, and infection.
