What to do when a male dog is in heat
After a male dog is in heat, behaviors such as loud barking and random urination may occur. When going outside, the owner should pay attention to tighten the leash to prevent the dog from breaking free when seeing opposite-sex dogs, or getting into fights with other male dogs. If the dog has random urination at home, the owner can try to take the dog outside to relieve itself more frequently. Additionally, dogs in heat have reduced immunity, so it's important to feed them nutrient-rich food, avoid giving them baths, and increase their physical activity. For example, playing with toys or going for walks can distract them and reduce their heat-related behaviors. If there is no breeding requirement, it is recommended to have the dog sterilized as soon as the heat period ends.
During the heat period, male dogs are affected by hormonal changes in their bodies, leading to behaviors such as anxiety, barking at night, and random urination. If there is no breeding requirement, it is advised to have the dog sterilized promptly after the heat period ends.
During the heat period, male dogs tend to become more anxious and irritable due to hormones. When going outside, they may surge forward when seeing female dogs and exhibit aggressive behavior towards other male dogs. Therefore, owners must pay attention to tighten the leash and avoid letting the dog break free.
Secondly, male dogs in heat may also exhibit random urination, which is a behavior to attract opposite-sex dogs and mark their territory. During this period, if conditions permit, owners should try to take the dog outside to relieve itself more frequently, which can prevent the dog from defecating and urinating indoors.
Besides addressing these unwanted behaviors, dogs in heat have reduced immunity, so owners should also feed their dogs more nutrient-rich food and avoid giving them baths during this period, otherwise they may easily catch a cold. Moreover, taking the dog for more physical activity or playing with toys is a good way to distract them and reduce their heat-related behaviors.
