What to do when a small dog keeps barking in its cage

When a small dog constantly barks in its cage, owners can take three measures: reward training, exercise, and distracting with toys. First, whenever the dog barks, gently hold its mouth and scold it loudly. When the dog starts to stop barking, give it a certain reward. Second, allow the dog to exercise more often to consume its energy and strength, so it won't keep barking. Lastly, place some toys in the cage to divert the dog's attention and stop it from constantly barking.

  1. Reward Training

When a small dog is first placed in a cage, it may constantly bark due to unfamiliarity with its environment. In this case, the owner needs to conduct reward training. When the dog barks, gently hold its mouth and scold it loudly to let it know this is unwanted. Then slowly release it. When the dog stops barking after releasing it, give it snacks and rewards like petting. Gradually, the dog will get used to this routine, and it won't bark when placed in the cage again.

  1. Exercise

The dog may constantly bark in the cage because it has too much energy. Therefore, owners can encourage more exercise and physical activity to tire out the dog. After the dog is tired, put it in the cage, and it won't have the energy to keep barking.

  1. Distract with Toys

A dog may also constantly bark in the cage due to fear or boredom. Owners can place some toys the dog likes in the cage, such as balls or chew toys, to attract its attention and stop it from barking. Additionally, prepare some snacks, drinking water, and dog food in the cage to meet the dog's needs and avoid constant barking due to hunger.

Note: These training methods require time and patience, so owners must be patient and avoid harshly disciplining the dog. It is also recommended not to keep the dog in the cage for a long time to avoid affecting its healthy growth due to lack of exercise.
