Cat afraid in new environment
When a cat is afraid, it may exhibit behaviors such as low growls, extending claws, raised tail, backing up, and wide-eyed expressions of fear. When interacting with a cat, never approach the cat or suddenly touch it when it shows signs of fear. Otherwise, the cat may become defensive and accidentally harm its owner due to high stress.
Extreme fear expressions in cats
When a cat is extremely afraid, it may display the following behaviors: lying close to the ground, arching backwards, twitching muscles due to tension in the back, airplane ears due to backward-facing ears, growling, fur standing on end, tail fluffing up, and backing up. It is recommended to immediately remove the cause of the cat's fear to avoid severe stress. In this situation, do not touch or hold the cat to avoid being accidentally injured.
How to comfort a cat
- Feed the cat its favorite treats.
- Distract the cat with toys it loves to play with.
- Give the cat a hug to make it feel secure, and talk to it in a soft voice.
- Stroke the cat's chin and neck to calm it down. If the cat remains agitated, do not forcefully touch it to avoid being scratched. Allow it to adapt slowly on its own.
