What to feed a cat with a sneeze
If your cat is just experiencing a mild cold resulting in sneezing, you can increase the indoor temperature, place the cat in a warm nest, and feed it warm water and liquid food. There is no need to give your cat medication. If your cat's cold is more severe, it can take conventional pet-specific cold remedies or special cat cold medicine. If the cat's sneezing is caused by herpes virus infection, it is best to take the cat to the pet hospital for related disease screening, and then treat it accordingly after confirming the cause of the disease.
Why does a cat sneeze?
There are many reasons for a cat to sneeze. If your cat sneezes infrequently, usually once or twice a day, it is likely a normal physiological situation. Exposure to irritating smells in the environment can also stimulate the cat's respiratory tract, causing continuous sneezing. Therefore, when you have a cat at home, avoid using perfumes, air fresheners, incense, and mosquito repellent sprays. If your cat experiences frequent sneezing, accompanied by coughing, runny nose, or increased eye discharge and redness of the eyelids, it is likely due to herpes virus infection.
What are the symptoms of herpes virus infection in cats who sneeze?
After a cat is infected with the herpes virus, it will exhibit symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, increased eye discharge, lethargy, and loss of appetite. Cat owners can appropriately add lysine to the cat's food and feed them unseasoned chicken breast and beef to supplement their nutrition and enhance their resistance. Since cats infected with the herpes virus will carry the virus for life, it is not recommended to live together with other unvaccinated cats.
Precautions
Pay attention to keeping your cat warm during seasons with significant temperature fluctuations and cold weather to avoid triggering other diseases. Regularly take your cat to the pet hospital for vaccination to prevent infection. When the cat's vaccines are not fully administered, avoid taking the cat outdoors to interact with unfamiliar animals and do not bath the cat.
