What should kittens eat if there is no cat food?

Cat food contains most of the nutrients that cats need and is beneficial for their digestion. If there is no cat food at home and your cat is young, you can feed it some wet food, cans, freeze-dried, cooked chicken breast, fish soup, bone broth, rice congee, etc., but don't give it too much. Too much may cause gastrointestinal discomfort in kittens.

What to feed kittens if there is no cat food

In fact, a high-quality cat food can ensure that your cat gets the nutrients it needs daily. However, if your cat doesn't like cat food, you can consider cat treats. Note that cats are better off not eating human snacks because these contain too much salt and other seasonings, which are bad for their health. Cat-specific treats, such as cat cans, delicious packages, cat strips, dried fish, chicken jerky, liver, meat chunks, and beef chunks, are suitable for cats. However, cat food should still be the mainstay, with occasional treats. You can boil chicken breast and beef at home and feed it to your cat as a treat.

What can kittens eat?

For young kittens, drinking cat milk is the best. If there is no breast milk, commercial kitten milk formula can be used instead. Cats have weak gastrointestinal immunity when they are young, so they should not eat indiscriminately. Eating some probiotic milk cakes is enough.

Can adult cat food be given to kittens?

If there is no kitten cat food at home, it is not recommended to feed adult cat food to kittens. The reasons are as follows: first, kittens' gastrointestinal function is weaker than that of adult cats, and eating adult cat food can cause indigestion and diarrhea. Second, the protein, fat, and energy content in adult cat food is different from that in kitten food. Feeding kittens with adult cat food can lead to imbalanced or inadequate nutrition, which is not conducive to their growth and development.
