How can a puppy be born dead?
A puppy being born dead may be due to several reasons. One possible cause is that the puppy's body temperature is too low after birth, and timely warming measures are not taken. Secondly, it could be that the mother dog contracted bacteria or viruses during pregnancy, which caused harm to the fetus. Additionally, it may also be due to malnutrition or mechanical injury of the mother dog during pregnancy, which led to the death of the fetus. Therefore, it is advised that owners should strengthen their care and protection of the mother dog during pregnancy.
- Low body temperature
The body immunity of a newly born puppy is particularly weak. If the owner does not pay attention to warmth, the dog will freeze to death. Therefore, after the puppies are born, the owner should monitor the temperature in the nursing box to ensure that all the puppies have sufficient temperature and adequate nutrition. If necessary, the owner can manually feed the weaker puppies to ensure that they receive enough nutrition.
- Bacterial or viral infection in the mother dog
If a mother dog contracts bacteria or viruses during pregnancy, it can lead to the death of the fetus. Examples of bacteria and viruses that can cause infection and death in newborn puppies include E. coli, staphylococcus, streptococcus, and parvovirus, herpesvirus, etc. Therefore, during the pregnancy of a dog, the owner must disinfect to avoid bacterial and viral infections.
- Malnutrition or damage to the mother dog
If the owner does not properly manage the care of the mother dog during pregnancy, such as insufficient vitamins or minerals, or if the dog suffers damage during pregnancy, such as stress caused by fright or severe mechanical injury, it can cause the mother dog to have stillbirth. Therefore, during the pregnancy of the mother dog, the owner needs to strengthen the protection and care of the mother dog, enhance nutrition, and enable her to give birth to healthy puppies.
