Winter is coming, should I dress my dog?

Many pet owners must be wondering whether they should dress their dogs in winter. Previously, many pet store employees told me that pet dog clothes only need to be bought for style, and dogs don't need clothes to keep warm. Many pet owners dress their dogs for their own needs, but they don't really observe the many discomforts that dogs experience when wearing clothes. Let's learn about the pros and cons of dressing dogs.

What are the effects of dressing dogs:

(1) Dogs have a natural ability to maintain their body temperature. They can automatically adjust their body temperature according to the changing seasons. If pet owners always dress their dogs, it can disrupt the dog's regulation of body temperature, weakening their constitution and immune system, making them more susceptible to colds and other diseases.

(2) If the quality of the dog's clothes is poor, it can easily cause skin diseases such as allergies, peeling, and redness. It's better not to dress dogs.

(3) Try not to dress dogs in clothes that are too tight or overly wrap their bodies. Firstly, tight clothes can affect the dog's normal movement, and also affect the normal metabolism of their hair, causing dandruff and possibly affecting the dog's normal breathing.

(4) Some dogs become motionless after being dressed, because they feel that the clothes severely affect their normal activities. It's better not to dress such dogs.

(5) Dogs with skin diseases should not wear clothes, as they can easily rub and become inflamed.

The advantages of dressing dogs:

(1) Keep warm

For small-sized dogs, or dogs that are newly adopted or older, wearing clothes when going outside in cold weather can keep them warm and prevent them from catching a cold.

(2) Protect the body surface

When dogs go outside to play, especially when they roll around on the grass, wearing clothes can provide protection against grass and fleas, making it easier for pet owners to take care of them by simply cleaning the clothes.

(3) Keep the body clean

Dogs usually bath once a week to once a month. Wearing clothes in between baths can prevent dust and keep the dog cleaner for a longer period, reducing the burden on owners.
