Adult male cats sometimes meow loudly at night

Adult male cats meowing loudly at night may be due to various reasons, such as being in heat, boredom, or hunger. If the cat has been neutered, it is highly likely that the meowing is caused by boredom or hunger.

  1. Heat

If an adult male cat has reached six months old but has not been neutered, it will meow loudly at night to attract the attention of female cats. This may also be accompanied by behaviors such as spraying urine everywhere, becoming more irritable, and wanting to run outside. This situation may last for about a week. To solve this problem, the owner can either arrange for the cat to be mated or take it to the pet hospital for neutering. If you choose neutering, it is best to wait for the heat cycle to end first, as neutering during the heat cycle increases the risk of surgery.

  1. Boredom

If the owner is usually busy with work and spends little time playing with the cat, the cat may meow loudly at night to attract the owner's attention and ask them to get up and play with it. Some cats may even run straight to the bed and wake up the owner. Therefore, it is best for the owner to spend more time interacting with the cat or provide it with more toys to play with. Once the cat's energy is消耗, it will naturally stop disturbing the owner.

  1. Hunger

Cats meow loudly at night when they are hungry, trying to remind the owner to feed them. This is common in families that feed their cats at fixed times. The owner should consider whether the cat's meal intervals are too long. If so, prepare food for the cat before going to bed, so that the cat will eat on its own when it gets hungry.

If the cat is fed 3-4 times a day, it is generally recommended to have an interval of 4-6 hours between each meal. This allows the cat's digestive system to rest and prevent stomach discomfort.
