Crying at night due to male cats

Crying at night from male cats may be caused by various reasons such as mating, fear, and coldness. When a male cat is in heat, they will emit a crying sound similar to a child's voice to attract the attention of female cats. At this time, it is essential to ensure that all windows and doors are closed tightly to prevent the male cat from running away or jumping off the building. It could also be due to the unfamiliar environment which causes fear in the newly arrived dog, so it's necessary to accompany the cat more often. Another possibility is the cold weather, as the nighttime temperature is usually lower, so it's important to keep your cat warm.

Firstly, crying at night may be caused by mating. Male cats usually start mating around 8 months old. During this period, they will not only emit loud cries at night but also show symptoms such as marking territory, running away, and being anxious. Therefore, it is crucial to ensure that windows and doors are closed tightly during the mating period to prevent the cat from getting lost. If there is no requirement to breed the cat, you can have them undergo a sterilization surgery at a pet hospital after the mating period, which can effectively avoid the crying phenomenon at night.

Secondly, it could be due to fear. If a cat has just arrived in a new environment, they might feel scared because of the unfamiliar surroundings. When the cat is alone or in a dark place, they may feel unsafe and emit frequent cries. In this case, the owner needs to accompany the cat more often, and the cat's condition will improve once they get used to the environment.

Lastly, it could be due to coldness. In seasons with low temperatures or significant temperature differences between day and night, cats might cry to inform their owners that they are cold. Although cats have thick fur, they can still feel cold in lower temperatures. Therefore, it's essential to keep your cat warm by providing blankets, setting up warm beds, using electric blankets, or even dressing them up. However, avoid placing the cat's bed in a drafty area to prevent colds.
