Cat acting moody and not eating much after vaccination

Cat acting moody and not eating much after vaccination may be due to stress response after vaccination, functional dyspepsia, or gastritis. If the cat is acting this way due to the vaccination, it is a normal phenomenon and indicates a side effect of the vaccine. Once the body fully absorbs the vaccine, the adverse reactions will gradually subside, and no special treatment is usually needed. However, if the cat is showing abnormal moodiness and loss of appetite along with other symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and acid reflux, it is recommended that the owner take the cat to a regular veterinary hospital for examination and treatment.

  1. Stress response after vaccination

There are various types of vaccines, including feline triennial, feline quadriennial, and rabies vaccines. After administration, the vaccines produce antibodies in the body that can prevent multiple diseases. However, all vaccines have certain side effects, which may include abnormal mental status and decreased appetite. These are normal reactions to the vaccine and usually do not require special treatment.

  1. Functional dyspepsia

If the cat already suffers from functional dyspepsia, the vaccination may exacerbate the condition, prolonging the recovery time. It may also cause symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, acid reflux, and heartburn. Furthermore, it can affect the cat's normal mental status, leading to fatigue and depression. Medical advice should be followed for the administration of digestive tract stimulants.

  1. Gastritis

Gastritis is a common gastrointestinal disease usually caused by unhealthy diet and Helicobacter pylori infection. If the cat does not adjust its diet after vaccination and indulges in binge eating, it can damage the gastric mucosa and cause symptoms such as loss of appetite and abnormal mental status. Treatment with antibiotics and protective agents for the gastric mucosa, under the guidance of a doctor, can aid in the cat's recovery.
