Cat bites when touched

The belly of a cat is a sensitive area. If the cat doesn't feel very familiar with you or feels that the environment is unsafe, it will attack when you touch its sensitive area. In this case, it is recommended to get familiar with the cat first. You can start by stroking the cat's head and neck fur. Feed the cat nutritional supplements while stroking it regularly, and the cat will gradually get familiar with you before you try touching its sensitive area.

Cat bites when touched

There are several possible reasons why a cat bites when touched:

  1. It's related to the cat's personality. Some cats are naturally aloof and solitary. They don't like being touched. It's advised to respect the cat's habits. Forcibly stroking it may anger the cat.
  2. The cat is scared of strangers. Cats are very vigilant and don't like being touched by strangers.
  3. The place being touched is sensitive, such as the belly.

Why are cats aloof?

  1. It's in their nature. Genetic research on domestic cats shows that they are inherently aloof.
  2. The domestication period of cats is relatively short. Dogs have been domesticated for at least 30,000 years, while cats have only lived with humans for about 9,500 years. Cats are the only semi-domesticated animals. Research shows that cats have undergone less evolutionary pressure during domestication than dogs. Apart from retaining the instinct to catch mice, humans have never deliberately shaped the cat's characteristics like they have with dogs, cows, and pigs.

How to train cats

Cats are particularly difficult to understand, so it's challenging to teach them behavior. If the cat doesn't listen, you can give it some punishment, but make sure not to cause the cat stress. When the cat listens, reward it with some snacks to form a habit. At the same time, let the cat exercise more to burn off its energy, and it will gradually become obedient.
