How to educate a cat that bites its owner
For a cat that bites its owner, the owner needs to first understand the reason behind the biting and then take appropriate measures. Firstly, if the kitten is aged between 3 and 8 months, the biting may be due to the teething stage. It is recommended that the owner prepare some chew toys for the kitten to relieve the discomfort during the teething period. Secondly, if the cat is biting intentionally, it is necessary to scold it loudly and tell it that this behavior is wrong. Additionally, cats may bite when they want their owners to play with them. In this case, the owner can prepare more toys for the cat and avoid using their hands to play with the cat.
- Prepare chew toys for the cat
If the cat is aged between 3 and 8 months, it is likely in the teething stage. During this period, the cat may bite its owner's hands, feet, or other items due to discomfort from its teeth. This is a natural behavior of the cat during teething, and the owner does not need to provide excessive education. It is generally recommended to prepare some hard chew toys and teething toys for the cat, which can relieve the cat's toothache and help it during the teething process.
- Scold the cat loudly
If the cat is biting intentionally, the owner needs to provide scientific guidance and education. The owner should scold the cat loudly and gently tap the cat's surroundings with items like newspapers or empty water bottles. This will subconsciously let the cat know that its behavior is wrong. After repeated attempts, the cat will break this bad habit. It is also important to note that each time the cat exhibits biting behavior or has already bitten, the owner should seriously stop it, but avoid using violence. After the cat realizes its mistake, a certain reward can be given.
- Prepare more toys for the cat
If the cat is biting gently as a way to test or out of boredom, it may want the owner to play with it. In this case, the owner should not scold the cat and instead use toys like a cat wand to play with the cat. Additionally, prepare more toys for the cat to prevent it from feeling bored. It is not recommended for owners to directly use their hands to play with the cat, as this can lead the cat to treat the owner's hands as toys and bite them frequently.
