Cat with black spots like coal

*Black spots like coal on a cat's body may be caused by flea infection or folliculitis.

When black spots like coal appear on a cat's body, the owner can first check if there are any fleas on other parts of the cat's body. If there is a flea infection, the owner should promptly give the cat a flea treatment. However, if the cat has folliculitis caused by a secretion disorder, the cat should be given light and digestible food to regulate its diet.

1. Flea Infection

The black spots like coal on a cat's body may be flea feces. Flea feces are usually small black particles that can usually be seen with the naked eye. If flea droppings are found on the cat, it indicates a flea infection, and the cat should be treated promptly to prevent symptoms such as itching, redness, and hair loss after being bitten by fleas. Moreover, fleas reproduce very quickly, and a large number of fleas can cause skin diseases in cats.

2. Folliculitis

The black spots like coal on a cat's body may be oil particles secreted by the cat, mainly caused by the cat's regular diet being too oily. The owner is advised to switch the cat's food to low-fat cat food. If a cat uses a plastic bowl for a long time, it can easily lead to bacterial infections around the mouth, resulting in black coal-like substances.

Precautions:

Regular flea control is recommended for cats in daily care, usually an external flea treatment every month and an internal flea treatment every three months. Using a ceramic bowl instead of a plastic one is also recommended, and it's a good habit to wipe the cat's mouth dry after it drinks water. In daily diet, it's better to feed the cat light and digestible pet food, and avoid giving it human food.
