Sudden meowing from a cat
Why is my cat suddenly meowing loudly?
There could be many reasons for a cat to suddenly start meowing loudly. Generally, this occurs when the cat is attacked by an object or experiences physical pain. The specific reason needs to be analyzed by the owner in conjunction with the cat's usual behavior. If the meowing is not frequent, the owner can choose to ignore it. However, if the meowing persists for a long time, the cat should be taken to a pet hospital for inspection.
What's going on with my cat's meowing?
First, check whether the cat has any physical injuries or bone damage. On the other hand, persistent meowing in female cats is often caused by heat. When a female cat is not pregnant, she can be easily induced to go into heat when a male cat or other objects are nearby. Cats are induced ovulators, and eggs can only be released during mating. If you don't want to breed your pet, it's better to get them spayed early, which can reduce breast tumors, prevent ovarian tumors, and decrease the chances of the cat running away during heat.
What are the symptoms of a cat in heat?
When a male cat is in heat, he will assume a standing position, raise his tail high, and spray urine on vertical objects. His tail will shake while spraying urine, and the urine will smell stronger than usual. A female cat in heat will wander everywhere, be restless, and claw at doors and windows desperately when male cats are nearby or heard calling. When you gently tap the base of the female cat's tail, she will instinctively lift her hindquarters.
What can I feed my cat to stop them from going into heat?
There are no safe medications to suppress a cat's heat or contraceptives for cats. While there may be foods marketed to calm cats, they are not recommended. First, there is no clear laboratory report to confirm that the food contains ingredients that can tranquilize cats, nor have there been investigations showing that these foods do not contain tranquilizing drugs added by humans. Second, cats meow during heat due to their biological characteristics, and there is no need to suppress it with medication. If the meowing disturbs others' routines, you can choose to have your cat spayed at an appropriate time.
