What to attention after the mother cat gives birth
After the mother cat gives birth, the owner should pay attention to the following three points:
- Pay attention to keeping the cat warm
After giving birth, the mother cat's body is relatively weak and has low resistance. Therefore, the owner's first priority is to keep the cat warm and provide a safe, comfortable, and clean environment to avoid the cat catching a cold or being infected with bacteria.
- Supplement nutrition for the cat
Since the cat's body is fragile after giving birth, the owner needs to provide the cat with high-nutrition food, such as pregnancy cat food, cat-specific milk powder, minced meat, cans, etc. Also, supplement calcium for the cat to prevent low blood calcium after giving birth.
- Do not touch the mother cat and kittens
Some mother cats have strong maternal instincts and may think the owner will harm the kittens. Therefore, it is not recommended to visit and touch the mother cat frequently after she gives birth. Otherwise, it may cause the mother cat to be tense, leading to her carrying her kittens around and constantly changing places to hide them. Additionally, the owner should also avoid stroking the newly born kittens, as this may cause the mother cat to reject her kittens, resulting in abandoning nursing and posing a threat to the kittens' lives.
