Causes of a dog's head tilting to one side
A dog's head tilting to one side is usually caused by vestibular neuritis, followed by stroke or ear inflammation. When a dog shows symptoms of tilting its head, it may lead to difficulties in movement, increasing the risk of bumping or injury. Therefore, it is recommended that owners take their dogs to a pet hospital for relevant checks and treatments as soon as possible. The earlier the treatment starts, the better the outcome. If not treated promptly, the condition may worsen, leading to irreparable consequences.
- Vestibular neuritis
Vestibular neuritis often occurs in older dogs. In addition to tilting their heads, dogs may also show symptoms such as drooling, walking in circles, and squinting. If you notice your dog showing these symptoms, it is recommended to take it to a pet hospital for diagnosis and treatment. If the condition is delayed, it may become untreatable and even lead to the dog's death.
- Stroke
If a dog除了把头歪向一边外,还有脸垂一边、抽慉、失去平衡、走路不稳等表现,很可能是中风。建议及时带狗狗去宠物医院就诊,尽早治疗会有较好的复原效果。
- Ear inflammation
When a dog's ears are inflamed, they may also tilt their heads to one side. For example, if the ears have wounds, or severe parasites, fungi, or bacterial infections, it can lead to ear inflammation. It is recommended to observe if your dog shows frequent scratching gestures near the ears. If so, it is advised to undergo an ear canal examination and treat the condition promptly. Additionally, regular cleaning of the dog's ear canals, trimming ear hair, and maintaining ear hygiene can prevent recurrence.
