Corgi Birth Process
Dog birth requires proper environmental disinfection and preparation before labor, including setting up a comfortable nest for the dog and having clean towels on hand. During the birth, the dog may exhibit signs of distress and slowly give birth to the puppies. The owner needs to wipe the moisture off the puppies after they are born, tie off the umbilical cord, and place them in a warm nest. Carefully observe whether the puppies are alive, and also check if the mother dog has given birth to all of her puppies.
Points to Note During Corgi Birth
There are several points to note during Corgi birth. First, the owner needs to prepare birth supplies in advance, such as a delivery room, towels, warm water, scissors, and oxytocin. Second, the owner can take the dog to the pet hospital in advance for X-ray examinations to check if the dog can give birth naturally. If not, it is necessary to bring the dog to the pet hospital in time for a cesarean section. Third, dogs are weakened after birth and may develop hypocalcemia, so it is recommended to supplement calcium promptly after the dog gives birth.
Can Corgis Give Birth by Themselves?
Corgis generally can give birth naturally. Dogs usually have the ability to give birth by themselves, and they will bite off the umbilical cord after giving birth. However, if a Corgi does not give birth within five to six hours, it should be considered as dystocia and sent to a pet hospital for a cesarean section. Encourage the Corgi to exercise appropriately and expose it to sunlight during pregnancy to facilitate a smoother birth.
How to Care for Dogs After Birth
Points to note when caring for dogs after birth include: First, during the nursing period, feed the mother dog some meat to increase nutrition. Second, if you are worried about bacterial infections after birth, use alcohol swabs to disinfect the nipples, but wait 15 minutes before nursing after disinfection. Third, if the mother dog gives birth to many puppies, you can assist with nursing by feeding the dog special pet formula milk powder. Avoid feeding the mother dog animal internal organs during nursing to prevent postpartum seizures.
