Do dogs with brain inflammation still eat?

Dogs with brain inflammation generally do not eat much. The sick dogs may show excitement and restlessness, or high depression, and even fail to recognize their owners. Some constantly bark aimlessly, run without purpose, and collide with obstacles. Some sick dogs show circular backward movement, partial or generalized spastic convulsions. The depressed animals have their heads hanging down, half-closed eyes, motionless obstacles on their heads, slow response to the outside world, poor posture, and weak muscles throughout their bodies. Some sick dogs fall to the ground and fall asleep.

Causes of Brain Inflammation

Brain inflammation can be divided into suppurative brain inflammation and non-suppurative brain inflammation. Suppurative brain inflammation is mostly caused by suppurative bacteria, such as head trauma, suppurative inflammation near the head, and other factors that can lead to brain inflammation. The migration of parasite larvae into brain tissue can also cause parasitic brain inflammation. Non-suppurative brain inflammation is mainly seen in secondary infectious diseases, such as canine distemper and rabies.

Can Brain Inflammation Be Cured?

Most brain inflammations are difficult to cure. First, a diagnosis must be made, which is difficult because brain inflammation diagnosis requires spinal fluid extraction, and clinical diagnosis usually relies on exclusion. The treatment of brain inflammation requires determining the cause, such as viral, bacterial, parasitic, fungal, protozoal, etc., and the probability of cure varies with the cause, but most are difficult to cure, hence the high mortality rate.

Disinfection Methods for Brain Inflammation

Dogs with brain inflammation do not emit pathogens into their environment because brain inflammation is almost non-contagious. Therefore, there are no special requirements for disinfectants; regular household disinfectants can be used. It is crucial to seek timely treatment when a dog has brain inflammation because the disease progresses rapidly. If treatment is delayed, the dog may face life-threatening risks.
