What to do if a dog has inflammation and cannot give birth
Inflammation and Infertility in Dogs
If a dog has inflammation and is unable to give birth, it is recommended to visit an animal hospital. Inflammation in dogs does not always lead to infertility, but if it is a reproductive system disease or a systemic inflammation, it can affect the body's ability to become pregnant. If the inflammation is localized, it generally will not cause infertility. The use of medication also depends on the location and cause of the inflammation, and it is necessary to go to an animal hospital based on the examination results and the doctor's prescription.
Can inflammation cause infertility?
It's not necessarily the case, and it depends on the situation. If the inflamed area is in the reproductive system, such as endometritis or vaginitis, the dog's chances of pregnancy are very low, and there may be repeated infertility. If the inflamed area is localized and not in the reproductive system, and does not affect the dog's overall function, this generally will not cause infertility.
How to Check for Infertility
To check if a dog is pregnant: You can take the dog to the hospital for a sonogram three weeks after mating to see if there is an embryo formation inside the dog. If there is, it means the dog is pregnant. Also, the dog's pregnancy lasts about two months, so owners must pay attention to the timeline.
Treatment for Infertility
First, the owner needs to find out the reason why the dog is not pregnant and then take appropriate measures. If the dog is unable to become pregnant due to age, such as not reaching sexual maturity or entering old age, there is no solution. If the dog cannot become pregnant due to diseases such as uterine inflammation, ovarian cysts, or pyometra, the owner should take the dog to the hospital for examination and treatment in a timely manner. If the dog is unable to become pregnant due to improper breeding, it is recommended to breed the dog again.
