What to feed a dog with severe inflammation
Dog Inflammation Treatment
When a dog has severe inflammation, it is recommended that the owner decide whether to administer anti-inflammatory medication after determining the cause of the inflammation and consult the veterinarian for the appropriate dosage. Some examples of anti-inflammatory medications that dogs can take include antibiotics such as cephalosporins, cefixime, cefadroxil, ampicillin, and amoxicillin, as well as combinations such as amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium, and gentamicin. It is best to purchase specialized pet anti-inflammatory medication and follow the instructions on the label.
Inflammation Symptoms
There are many symptoms of inflammation in dogs. The manifestations of inflammation vary depending on the location. If the eyes are inflamed, the dog may have thick eye discharge and teary eyes. If the skin or paws are inflamed, they may become red, itchy, and swollen in some cases. If the dog has systemic inflammation, it may show symptoms such as loss of appetite and lethargy.
How to Treat Inflammation
It is best to check the level of inflammation markers when treating inflammation. If the inflammation is too high, recommend using a higher-quality antibiotic. If conditions permit, measure the inflammation markers daily to compare progress. Some antibiotics have a slower onset of action, so it is necessary to monitor the inflammation markers to determine whether to change the antibiotic.
