How to cut off a Teddy's tail

First, immerse the selected rubber band or valve core in disinfectant water to sterilize it. Then take the rubber band out and wrap it around the 2/3rd of Teddy's tail, making sure to tie it tightly. During this process, pay attention to the disinfection of the tail cutting area. After about a week, the nerves in the tied-up dog tail will die and fall off naturally.

1. Best time for tail cutting

Generally, dog tail cutting is done during the puppy stage of 1 to 2 months, preferably within 1 to 7 days after birth. At this time, the nerves in Teddy's tail have not yet grown, and the tail bones are relatively fragile. If the tail cutting surgery is done after the dog grows up and the nerves in the tail have healed, the surgical difficulty will increase, and the dog's pain will also increase significantly.

2. Preparing tools

Medical alcohol, iodine, medical scissors, hemostatic forceps, tweezers, disinfectant cotton swabs, pen sleeve, valve core or rubber band.

3. Specific steps

  1. Cut the valve core into small segments of less than 1 cm and prepare them for later use. Disinfect them with alcohol.

  2. Disinfect the inside and outside of the pen sleeve with alcohol cotton.

  3. Use hemostatic forceps to hold the valve core open (note: do not keep the valve core open for too long, otherwise the valve core's expansion and contraction will be poor, affecting the tail cutting).

  4. Push the valve core onto the pen sleeve until it reaches the front of the sleeve.

  5. Disinfect the area 1/3 or 2/3 away from the tail tip with iodine, insert the dog's tail into the pen tube, and push the valve core down to the tail cutting position.

  6. Rub iodine on the tied-up tail area every day. After about 7 to 10 days, when there is no blood circulation, the tail will naturally shrivel and fall off, and the wound will be small. Just disinfect the wound.
