How to dock the tail of a Schnauzer
Usually, a Schnauzer can have its tail docked within two days after birth. Use a hemostat to clamp the part to be cut off, twist the excess part around three times, and then cut it off. Since the tail vessels of young dogs have not fully developed, there is usually little bleeding. Apply a little gentian violet ( purple medicine) or iodine to the wound, and the wound will heal automatically in two to three days.

Schnauzers have two types of fur: wool and stiff hair. Wool is mainly distributed on the face, limbs, and abdomen, while stiff hair is mainly distributed on the neck and back. When a Schnauzer is a puppy, it is covered in wool. At six months old, it is recommended to go to a professional grooming salon for hair removal. If your dog needs to participate in competitions, hair removal should be done about three months before the event. In Schnauzer competitions, the minimum hair length is required to be no less than 1 cm, and each hair must have a tip, so cutting is not allowed; instead, use a hair removal tool.
In the care of Schnauzer beauty, note that the stiff hair and wool should be cared for separately, using different shampoos. If conditions permit, use a specialized pet conditioner for maintenance after the first wash!
