How to prevent pregnancy in female cats without surgery
Female cats can contracept without undergoing spay surgery by means such as feeding contraceptive drugs, wearing safe pants, and reducing contact with male cats. During their estrus period, female cats usually show signs such as howling, poor appetite, and restlessness. If your female cat hasn't had a spay surgery, it's necessary to close the windows and doors to prevent the cat from jumping off the building or running away due to excessive hormones. Also, reduce the cat's outdoor time during estrus and avoid giving the cat a bath.
Firstly, contraception without spaying can be achieved by feeding suppressant drugs to the cat to alleviate the cat's estrus and prevent pregnancy. However, if the cat continues to go into heat without mating, it may lead to hormonal disorders and make the cat irritable. You can distract the cat by spending more time with it or playing with it using toys.
Secondly, if there are other cats at home, it's recommended to isolate them for feeding to prevent accidental mating and pregnancy. On the other hand, you can also dress your female cat in safe pants to help prevent pregnancy. Avoid giving the cat a bath during estrus because the cervix is open, making it prone to bacterial infection, and the cat's resistance is low, which may lead to a cold.
Lastly, cats usually go into heat 3-4 times a year, lasting about 1-2 weeks each time. If the cat goes into heat without mating, the interval between heat periods will become shorter. Frequent heat periods may also lead to pyometra, which is harmful to the cat's health. If there is no requirement for breeding, it's best to have the cat spayed to permanently prevent estrus and pregnancy. Short-term contraception cannot solve the problem fundamentally.
