How to properly clean your cat's ears

If your cat is constantly scratching its ears, they smell or look dirty, what should you do? Clean them, of course! Let me teach you how to properly clean your cat's ear canals.

  1. Wrap the cat in a bath towel like a corn curl. Place the towel on the table, wrap it around the cat's neck, and then pull it tight to the side. Be careful not to make it too tight.

  2. Open your cat's ears and pour the ear cleaning solution into them until you can see the liquid level.

  3. Massage the base of the cat's ear for 15-30 seconds, then release it to let it shake out the dirt.

  4. At home, use medical cotton balls available at the drugstore to clean the visible dirt. Do not use cotton swabs to explore deeper, as this can damage the ear canal and accidentally leave the swab inside.

  5. If your cat has ear mites, consult a veterinarian and clean the ears thoroughly. Then, continue cleaning daily at home.

  6. Combine the ear mite treatment with the ointment inserted into the ear for better results. Generally, it takes about a week to recover.

  7. The key to success is keeping the cat still, so remember to have two people handle the procedure. Have you learned how to do it?
