How to reduce a dog's fever

Your dog has a fever, what should you do to bring it down?

First, the owner should use a thermometer to measure the dog's temperature. The normal temperature for puppies is around 38-39 degrees Celsius. If the dog's temperature rises by less than 1 degree Celsius, you can first try to cool it down physically. However, if the dog's temperature has already exceeded the normal range by more than 1 degree Celsius, it is necessary to take the dog to the pet hospital for treatment and injections to reduce the fever.

  1. Physical cooling

If your dog has a mild fever, with a temperature exceeding the normal range by less than 1 degree Celsius, you can first try physical cooling methods. You can place ice blocks around the dog and use alcohol to wipe the dog's paws, ears, groin, and armpits, which have less hair and are more susceptible to heat dissipation. Repeat this process every 5 minutes. Also, give the dog plenty of water to promote metabolism, and pay attention to lightening the diet.

  1. Injections for fever reduction

If physical cooling methods are ineffective or the dog's temperature exceeds the normal range by more than 1 degree Celsius, you need to take the dog to the pet hospital immediately for injections to reduce the fever, so as not to exacerbate the condition. At the same time, analyze the cause of the dog's fever, which is usually caused by hot weather, cold exposure, infectious diseases, and other factors. The owner can take the dog to the hospital for a blood routine examination to determine if there is a bacterial or viral infection, and then take corresponding treatment measures.
