How to tell the age of a Teddy dog
The common method to determine the age of a dog is through observing their teeth. Here are the signs of each stage:
- Only sharp, fine milk teeth: Less than 2 months old.
- Starting to replace milk incisors: 2 to 4 months old.
- Replacing canine teeth: 4 to 6 months old.
- Replacing molars: 6 to 10 months old.
- All teeth grown fully, bright and white: Around 1 year old.
- Lower incisor tip worn down: Around 2 years old.
- Upper incisor tip worn down: Around 3 years old.
- Both upper and lower incisors worn down and turning yellow: 4 to 5 years old.
The teeth condition differs between different ages of Teddy dogs.
Judgment criteria:
- Teeth grow irregularly and unevenly at around 20 days.
- At 30-40 days, milk incisors grow in fully.
- At 2 months, all milk teeth grow in, sharp and tender white.
- At 2-4 months, the first milk incisors are replaced.
- At 5-6 months, the second and third milk incisors and all milk canine teeth are replaced.
- Above 8 months, all teeth have been replaced by permanent teeth.
- At 1 year, permanent teeth grow fully, bright, and firm, with a sharp tip on the upper incisors.
- At 1.5 years, the tip of the lower incisor is worn down.
- At 2.5 years, the tip of the second lower incisor is worn down.
- At 3.5 years, the tip of the upper incisor is worn down.
- At 4.5 years, the tip of the second upper incisor is worn down.
- At 5 years, the tip of the third lower incisor is slightly worn, and the first and second lower incisors are worn into a rectangle.
- At 6 years, the tip of the third lower incisor is worn down, and the canine teeth are dull and rounded.
- At 7 years, the first lower incisor is worn to the root, with a longitudinal elliptical wear surface.
- At 8 years, the first lower incisor is worn forward.
- At 10 years, the second lower incisor and the first upper incisor have a longitudinal elliptical wear surface.
- At 16 years, the incisors fall out, and the canine teeth are incomplete.
- At 20 years, the canine teeth fall out.
