Office worker tips for raising Border Collies
Border Collies are a lively breed of dogs that may disturb items in your home, causing extensive damage to furniture and other items. They have a relatively high intelligence level, which can lead to some challenging management situations. Owners need to start educating their dogs from a young age, and also pay attention to regularly vaccinating and supplementing calcium in their diet.
How to raise a Border Collie puppy
If the owner has weaned the puppy, they need to buy special sheep milk formula for young dogs at a pet store and pay attention to the temperature and concentration of the mixture to avoid diarrhea. Since young dogs have weak resistance, owners need to keep them warm to prevent colds. If the dog is unable to defecate on its own, the owner needs to stimulate defecation with paper towels every 1-2 days.
When to start supplementing calcium for Border Collies
Border Collies can start supplementing calcium from the age of two months. Two to three months is a critical stage for the formation of the intervertebral disc in young Border Collies. If calcium is lacking at this time, symptoms will appear in adulthood. Dairy products and soft bones can be eaten. Once adulthood is reached, the calcium requirement is not high, and supplementation is not necessary - feeding dog food daily is enough.
When to vaccinate Border Collies
Border Collies can be vaccinated at the age of two months, provided their health is normal. Do not bathe the dog for a week before and after the vaccination. For the initial vaccination, three doses of vaccine against infectious diseases are required, with each dose separated by 21 days. One week later, the rabies vaccine can be administered. After that, boosters are given annually, consisting of one dose of an infectious disease vaccine and one dose of the rabies vaccine.
