What do dog lice look like?

Dog lice can be divided into two types: dog hair lice (common) and bloodsucking lice (rare). Dog hair lice adults range from 1-2mm in size, attach to the hair, are slender, wide-headed, and often range from beige to light brown. Bloodsucking lice adults have the same size, color, and shape as dog hair lice, but their heads are relatively narrower. By parting the dog's fur, you will see many things that look like dandruff, but upon closer inspection, you will see they are individual lice. A dog infected with lice will be very itchy, and may become anemic, with pale mucous membranes and skin. Treatment involves using topical insecticides containing pyriproxyfen, fipronil, and selenium sulfide, which are all effective.

  1. How to remove dog lice from humans

First, ensure the cleanliness of clothes, and after complete cleaning, expose them to sunlight. Secondly, wash the surface of the body, especially areas with hair. While dealing with fleas on humans, also kill fleas on pets. Generally, pet flea control involves using drugs containing ingredients like selenium sulfide. Since the dog has already contracted fleas, it is recommended to use one monthly.

  1. How to thoroughly remove dog lice from the room

First, clear away clutter in the room, especially in corners, and spray insecticides containing fipronil throughout the room. Also, clean bedding items, such as sheets, duvet covers, and pillowcases, and expose them to sunlight. Finally, handle the source of infection. If the source is your own dog, apply topical insecticides monthly until the parasites are completely eliminated.

  1. How to eliminate dog lice from the bed

If dog lice are found in the bed, use insecticides containing fipronil to eliminate them. Since lice have strong reproductive capabilities, it's also necessary to clean and disinfect the bedding, which can be exposed to sunlight. Additionally, ensure pet deworming and the elimination of pests in other areas of the home. Pet deworming suggests using drugs containing selenium sulfide, and monthly application is necessary until the dog's skin surface is free of lice.
