What to do if a Teddy dog has bloody diarrhea?
Teddy dog with bloody diarrhea needs to first identify the cause of the disease and then treat it accordingly.
Usually, when a dog has bloody diarrhea, it may be due to stimuli such as viral infection, parasites, and gastritis, which irritate the gastric mucosa and cause damage to the gastrointestinal tract, leading to bloody diarrhea. It is necessary to perform hemorrhage control promptly. If the dog has severe bloody diarrhea accompanied by a fishy smell, the probability of a viral infectious disease is higher. During the treatment of a dog with bloody diarrhea, probiotics should be fed to help repair the gastrointestinal tract.
If the dog has not been vaccinated or has an incomplete vaccination, it has not produced antibodies to resist viruses in its body, and it may be infected with viral infectious diseases such as distemper and parvovirus, which cause bloody diarrhea. If the dog's bloody diarrhea has a fishy smell and the color of rotten tomatoes, the possibility of parvovirus infection is relatively high. It is usually not recommended to take the dog outdoors, contact unfamiliar dogs, or bathe the dog during vaccination or when the vaccination is incomplete, to avoid the dog contracting viruses.
If the dog has not been dewormed for a long time, it may also be caused by parasites such as roundworms, tapeworms, and coccidia. It is necessary to bring the dog's feces to the pet hospital for a fecal examination to identify the parasite species and then treat them accordingly. Common deworming drugs for dogs include those containing ivermectin, milbemycin, and praziquantel.
If the infectious disease is ruled out, it may be caused by gastritis. Dog gastritis is usually caused by improper feeding, such as eating spoiled food, oily diet, or taking irritating drugs. Generally, symptoms such as diarrhea and vomiting will occur, and bloody diarrhea may occur when the diarrhea is severe. It is necessary to treat the dog promptly. Do not feed the dog with overly oily food in daily life, and instead focus on feeding light, fresh, and clean pet food.
