What to do if your female cat urinates on the bed?
Female cats urinating on the bed may be due to reasons such as heat, fright, or urinary system diseases.
- Heat
When a female cat is not spayed, she will experience heat periods. To attract male cats, she may urinate on the bed.
- Fright
After being frightened, cats may have involuntary urination, which could lead to urine on the bed.
- Urinary system diseases
Cats with urinary system diseases may not be able to hold their urine normally due to inflammation and stone irritation. They may urinate uncontrollably on the bed. It is advised to consult a pet doctor promptly.
Note: When discovering that your female cat is urinating on the bed, do not use violent means. Cats are very resentful animals, and blind beating or scolding may have the opposite effect.
- Heat
Female cats will experience heat around 6 months old. To attract other male cats, they may exhibit behaviors such as random urination, screaming, and restlessness. Urinating on the bed is to spread the urine smell and attract more males for mating. During the heat period, a female cat may wander away or even jump off a building. Therefore, owners need to pay special attention to the cat's behavior. If the owner does not want the cat to breed, they should avoid contact between the female cat and male cats and spay the cat after the heat period.
- Fright
If there are strangers visiting the house or new animals being raised, the female cat may become emotionally unstable and urinate on the bed. To deal with this, the owner can gently stroke the cat to alleviate its tension and avoid causing fright in the future.
- Urinary system diseases
If a female cat suddenly starts urinating on the bed instead of her litter box and exhibits symptoms such as depression, loss of appetite, frequent urination positions, and only a few drops of urine each time, it is likely due to a urinary system disease. In severe cases, the cat may even emit painful screams or low whines, and the urine may be cloudy or mixed with blood. If you notice abnormal urination behaviors in your female cat, it is recommended to take her to the pet hospital immediately for inspection to determine the specific cause and then adopt appropriate medication or other treatments.
