When can kittens eat cat food?
Generally, kittens aged one or two months can start eating cat food. However, it is better to feed them with kitten food, and the food should be softened with milk before feeding to avoid stress reactions caused by sudden changes in food and to reduce the stimulation of the cat's stomach. After the cat's stomach adapts to the cat food, you can let the cat eat only cat food one week later. Kittens under three months old need to have their cat food softened, and cats over ten months old can be mainly fed adult cat food.
How long can kittens eat cat food?
Cats usually start weaning at one month old and gradually transition to cat food. During this time, it is important to keep the kittens warm to prevent them from catching a cold. Hot water bags and electric blankets should not be directly touching the skin, as they can easily cause burns. When the cat is six weeks old, it is time to take it for vaccinations, which can effectively prevent the occurrence of infectious diseases. Vaccinations can be done at local pet hospitals or veterinary stations.
Homemade kitten food
You can boil white rice or millet rice and mix cooked chicken or beef with the boiled rice in a blender. The blended food can then be fed to the kittens. You can also add some fruits and vegetables, such as potatoes, carrots, cucumbers, corn, and apples, to increase the cat's nutrition. It is best to feed the kittens mainly with milk replacer.
Can kittens eat adult cat food?
Kittens can eat adult cat food, but it is not recommended to feed them with adult cat food during the weaning period. Instead, they should be fed with weaning cat food. The reasons are as follows: first, compared to adult cat food, weaning cat food has a more suitable nutritional content for the growth of weaning cats and can provide more comprehensive nutrition; second, weaning cat food is relatively easier to digest, reducing the risk of indigestion.
